SAGE - Students Actively Guiding Education

SAGE offers supplemental learning to homeschool families in a small, student centered setting. Students at SAGE will have the opportunity to enhance their homeschool curriculum and gain a deeper knowledge of core second grade skills by engaging in relevant, hands-on activities with their peers. Students at SAGE become advocates for their own learning as they are encouraged to create learning goals and share their ideas.

SAGE offers a chance for homeschool students to connect with other students in a fun learning environment. Our classroom environment is indoors and outdoors with plenty of learning spaces. The classroom is sensory rich for students who benefit from sensory breaks.

SAGE offers homeschool families a place for their child to come one, two or three mornings a week. SAGE is located in NE Bend. Each day is from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Full time students will come M/W/Th from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. Full-time enrollment includes weekly check-ins with parents to support their work at home, formal and informal assessments in all subject areas, and substantial one-on-one time with their teacher.

Mondays will focus on Math. Students will build their number sense and knowledge of core second grade math skills as they engage in collaborative math games, real-life scenarios and age-appropriate math manipulatives.

Wednesdays will focus on literacy. Students will improve their reading, writing and spelling skills by engaging in a multi-sensory phonics curriculum. Students will partake in read-aloud and book discussions, reading on their own and reading with a partner. Students will delve into the writing process as they study their favorite authors, gain inspiration and publish their own stories.

Thursdays will focus on science, social studies and our local environment. Students will embark on monthly or bi-monthly excursions to rural and urban places around Bend as they learn more about our place through nature study, observation and art. On classroom days, students will further their knowledge through inquiry-based science and social studies activities.
